The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) published their House Price Index (HPI) for the third quarter of 2022.
For Washington/Arlington/Alexandria Metropolitan Statistics Area, the price of housing went down 1.96% compared to the second quarter of 2022. On a one year period, the third quarter of 2022 versus 2021, the value of properties increased 4.47%.
FHFA also calculated a HPI for three digits zip codes which gives us a more accurate estimation of how the prices fluctuated in your area.
Three digits zip code 223 (Alexandria City, part of Fairfax County) saw a decreased of 2.89% during the third quarter versus the second quarter of 2022, but the prices went up 6.36% compared to the same quarter of 2021.
For the three digits zip code 222 (Arlington County), the HPI declined 0.88% in the third quarter from the second quarter of 2022 and increased 8.04% between the third quarter of 2021 and 2022.
